Chakkalu with Tea
చక్కలు — టీతో
Chakkalu are the tea-time crunch of an Andhra evening. Serve a handful with chai or coffee. Some houses set a few beside hot rice and a spicy pickle when the meal is very plain, for the sound as much as the taste.
Humidity is the enemy. Tin shut. If they droop, a few minutes in a warm oven brings them back. Deep-frying again makes them oily and dark.
